Small Details to Think About for the Big Day

If you’re getting married and you’ve just started to plan for the big day, then you’re probably consumed with lots of details!  There’s so much to oversee, but you’ve got this.  One big help is, of course, is hiring a wedding planner if you can afford it.  A planner will help to create fun and unique ideas for your wedding as well as manage the details.  Whether you have a planner or not, I’m certain you’ll end up down a Pinterest rabbit hole at some point researching small details for the big day.  So start sipping on a much-needed cocktail, and enjoy a few ideas for consideration.

Pocket squares

The groom will certainly stand out on your wedding day.  However, another way to make his attire truly special is to add a pocket square to his look.  This is a trick for all the dapper men that will be attending your wedding, but you may want to pass the message on to anyone extra close to you for the heads up. Pocket squares are a lovely little detail that go in the front pocket of a blazer. They are usually a pop of color that tends to be the secondary color to the wedding – so usually the same color as the bridesmaids’ dresses. One way to make things more exciting is to learn how to fold a pocket square into various different shapes.  It’s a subtle touch to create that wow factor.

Flower arrangements

You will most likely have flower arrangements scattered around your venue.  Don’t forget the bouquets that you and your bridesmaids are holding, too. These flowers will be a beauty to look at with colors that flow perfectly complementing your decor and attire. Having said that, there are small details you can add to make the flowers even more stunning.  For example, for the bride’s bouquet, find a soft color ribbon that matches the bridesmaid’s dresses.  Tie this ribbon to the bouquet for a soft pop of color.  You can do the same thing with white or blush ribbon and the bridesmaid’s bouquets for an extra touch.  If budget allows, you could also have a loose bloom at everyone’s place setting to welcome them to the table.  It could double as a favor.

Wedding favors are another way to add perfect small details to the event.  Our contributor, Kristin, has written about some of her favorite favor ideas.  Selecting a favor that’s true to you as a couple is perfect.  For example, for our wedding, we decided to do thank you cards at everyone’s table.  My husband is known for being super thoughtful, and I love paper goods.  So, thank you cards resting at people’s place settings were the perfect fit.  Whatever you decide, choose something that fits your wedding theme.
