Meet Suree & Paola of Girl Meets Party

Suree & Paola are the glue behind the scenes of the Girl Meets Party team.  They’re the perfect combination because they offer differing skill sets yet both have killer personalities.  Together, Jen, Suree & Paola create the trio that is the team behind Girl Meets Party.

Let’s get to know more about Suree…

“Thanks to my computer science background, tech at Girl Meets Party is called ‘The Suree Department'”

Tell us more about yourself.

Hi, I’m Suree! I’m a soon to be recent grad studying marketing & computer science. Originally from a small town in Southern, Illinois, I’ve loved my past 4 years here in Chicago. Favorite activities include walking around in nice weather, going to bars where I know I won’t have to stand, and working on my various projects in cute coffee shops.

What do you work on at Girl Meets Party?

For Girl Meets Party, I take ownership of Facebook and anything back-end related to the website. I’ve got my own designated “Suree Department.”

Tell us about your favorite hobby & why it inspires you.

I’ve recently developed a huge appreciation for art! I find visual design and animation fascinating and the technique and work behind painting incredible. It’s inspiring to see artists illustrate their ideas into a tangible piece of work, and it pushes me to pursue my own ideas.

What’s your favorite meal or restaurant?

Honestly, McDonalds is my guilty pleasure. (“I luv Big Macs” was my Tinder bio for a while). Can Jeni’s ice cream count?  I really love that a lot, too!

Cupcakes or donuts?

What’s your word of the year?

“Action” would be my word of the year. A lot new things are happening this year (graduating, a new job, moving), and I’m ready to take on whatever comes my way.

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?

Better eating habits.  If you haven’t noticed already, I love junk food.

What are you most excited for in the new year personally, and what are you most excited for with Girl Meets Party?

I’m SO excited to graduate this year! I love learning and dedicating time to school, but I think it’s now the right time to finish that stage in my life. For Girl Meets Party, I’m excited to work with our contributors, to develop more partnerships, and to handle any surprises that come our way.

Now let’s get to know Paola…

“I’m known as the sensible one of the group – always ensuring we’re grounded!”

Tell us more about yourself.

Hello! I’m Paola, a Chicago native now living in Dallas, Texas working for a major consumer packaged goods (CPG) company.  Inquisitive and hungry for knowledge, my passion for influencing my community is what drives my career aspirations which is why I’m in Dallas. Tackling each day with a smile, full of creativity, curiosity, and ambition, I’m always on the lookout, ready for new challenges and adventures.

What do you work on at Girl Meets Party?

I love this question because we all do a little of everything.  Specifically, I manage our newsletter, all of our analytic tracking and submissions to publications.  I’m also chief planner for our Dallas trips, which we’re hoping to make annual!

Tell us about your favorite hobby and why it inspires you.

I’ve gotten really into running races. I was not an athlete at all and could barely run a mile for that matter, but each race has inspired me to push myself even when I’m ready to give- up and receiving that finisher medal is always a great feeling.  I hope to run a marathon one day.  In fact, my boyfriend & I are training for a half marathon at Disney World next year!

What’s your favorite meal or restaurant?

A yummy grilled cheese with some cheese fries at Cheesie’s in Chicago!  I haven’t found anyone in Dallas that even comes close to a Cheesie’s grilled cheese!

Donuts or cupcakes?

Donuts!!  Sweets in the morning are always good in my book!

What’s your word of the year?

My word of the year is empowerment.  Last year was all about change – I took on a new role with Girl Meets Party, graduated from college, started my first full-time job and moved to Dallas.  This year, I want to shift from me to other people. I want to empower others in my community, my full-time job and in Girl Meets Party. For this reason, our SelfMade Story Series on our site is my favorite!

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?

My New Year’s resolutions include to eat healthier, run a half marathon and travel to a new destination.  I like to really get after ‘a better me’ every year!

What are you most excited for in the new year personally, and what are you most excited for with Girl Meets Party?

Personally, for the new year, I’m most excited to keep exploring Dallas [where I live now] and grow in my new role at work.  I’m loving working full-time, and am looking to grow within my company over the next few years.  I’m very excited for new partnerships with Girl Meets Party and our growing team.  It’s amazing to think how far we’ve come since I sat down with Jen at Starbucks a year ago looking to join as an intern.  This year will be one for the books!
